Newsletter March 2018

Several events this year have helped raise much needed funds. Our Quiz and Curry night in February raised over £950. A special thank you to Chris and his team at the Fountaine Inn who helped put on another amazing night. Our Film night in January raised over £59.40 and the one in March raised £94.00. Thank you to everyone who helped organise and support these events. Bags4school raised £108.00 from the last two collections and our Coffee Morning in April will hopefully help to top up our funds.

Thanks to your support we had a healthy amount in the Friend’s account which meant that we were able to fund a long list of items that the school needed. In December, we took the whole school to see the pantomime in Harrogate, which was a huge success and loved by all the children. We also funded the recent Viking day at school which was a big hit with all the children. The school has also been able to purchase new tables for the Kingfishers, chalk boards, books for stages 1-6, 25 new children’s dictionaries, two large dictionaries for Key stage 2, stationary and art materials, wellington boots and aprons for the Kingfishers and 3 epipens. £100 was also allocated for each class to freshen up their classroom. Furthermore, we hope to fund some outdoor equipment for Key stage 1.

Our annual coffee morning will be held on the 28 April 2018. We desperately need volunteers on the day. If you think you can help, however small, then please do support us and come and help out even if just for an hour. We also need raffle prizes, tombola prizes and cakes, biscuits and homemade jam. If you can’t come on the day then please donate. Remember that any funds that are raised go towards resources for all the pupils at the school. Thank you also to everyone who signed up for the Co-op card. Since the 12 November, Co-op members who have chosen to support Threshfield Primary School with their 1%, have raised £260.35. There’s still £1,042.97 up for grabs, so the more members who choose our cause and buy own brand Co-op products and services, the more we will benefit. So please encourage friends and family to join and if you haven’t got a card yet please get one.

We also need a new Treasurer and Chairperson from September. It would be ideal if someone could step forward now so that Kim and Shiona can show them the ropes for the next couple of months. Friends of Threshfield is a registered charity and can only run if we have a certain amount of people on our committee. It would be such a shame to lose these valuable and much needed funds for the school so, if you feel you would like to help, please let us know. We are very conscious that some people may not be able to attend the Friends meetings during the day so our next meeting will be held in the pub. Hopefully more people will come along. If you need a lift to the Fountaine please email threshfieldfriendsevents@outlook.com or speak to Kim Scholey and we will make sure someone picks you up and takes you home again.

The next meeting will be on Thursday 19 April, at 7pm at the Fountaine Inn in Linton. When you have a moment, please take a look at our website www.friendsofthreshfield.co.uk and our Facebook page: Parents of Threshfield Primary. All the information regarding our events and updates is also posted on these sites. Many thanks for your support. We hope to see you at our next meeting and at the coffee morning in Grassington in April.

Newsletter November 2017

We would like to start by thanking everyone for their support with the recent events this month. Firstly our 80’s Top of the Pops night was a huge success. Not only raising over £1000 on the night but also a great social event. The atmosphere and outfits were amazing. Secondly our online auction did amazingly well, topping our original target of£1000 by raising £1660. Local businesses were so generous and supportive of the school. All these funds will go directly to buying much need materials and resources for school. We will keep you posted on what is bought in the next couple of months.

Our Halloween film night was also a success and thank you to all volunteers who helped out. We raised £80.00. We will be doing a Christmas themed film night, dates to be announced later. Please remember siblings are also welcome to attend.

We will be helping out at the school Christmas fete this year so please if you can help even for an hour or so please do let us know. We also need donations of tombola prizes for the adults and children along with any cakes. So please do get baking as we will be having a cake stall on the day. Any cakes or buns can be left at school on the Friday before.

Our 100 club is also up and running. Shiona Slater will be at the school Fete letting people know how they can take part. Please do support this as we need a minimum of numbers sold to be a success.

Bags4school will also be back on Wednesday 6th December so please hold onto any unwanted clothes. We get paid per weight per bag so it doesn't matter what they look like. Bags for this will go out two weeks before and last year we raise £162.04 so it really does help.

Thank you to everyone who bought Christmas cards, this raised £160. All artwork has now gone off the designers and will be send home to each child soon.

Our AGM meeting will be held on Thursday 16th November 3.30pm at school. We would love to see you there, hear your thoughts, ideas and suggestions. Everyone is welcome parents, carers, grandparents.

Thank you also to everyone who filled out our questionnaire, feedback is vital for us so much appreciated. We now have a dedicated website www.friendsofthreshield.co.uk will be updated regularly with attends and information so please do take a look.

Finally with Christmas round the corner if you do any shopping online then please register with easyfundraising.org. All you have to do is sign up and select Threshfield Primary School. Then each time you buy anything the school gets a percentage. It only takes 2 minutes to register and it will mean lots of extra money for school so please, please make the time to use it. www.easyfundraising.org.uk

All this hard earned money goes towards improving the wonderful learning environment provided for our children so please continue to support us.

Many thanks,

Friends
